Christopher Mitchell

Christopher Mitchell is a multimedia artist and photographer whose work explores the intersections of culture, identity, and place. Deeply rooted in Haitian heritage, his art captures the beauty, complexity, and resilience of Haitian culture through a contemporary lens.

Over the past decade, Christopher has extensively documented Kanaval Jacmel, focusing on themes of transformation, tradition, and community. His work has been featured in exhibitions such as Les Sirenes at MOCA Miami, which reimagined mermaids through the lens of Haitian folklore.

In Little Haiti, he created a powerful installation honoring the victims of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, commemorating the mass graves and collective grief that followed the tragedy.

From the vibrant streets of Little Haiti to the iconic lifeguard towers of Miami Beach, Christopher’s work engages with history, memory, and overlooked narratives. Through photography, film, and installation, he invites viewers to reflect on culture, place, and the stories we carry.

His current projects include a photo book and documentary on Kanaval Jacmel, as well as a film exploring sacred Vodou ceremonies in Haiti.
